Desperately seeking updates?
Dear Readers,
I've been away for awhile but in my absence a lot of good things have happened! I'm always honored when people contact me to write about my work. Last summer I made a zine that collected some of my most celebrated papercuts from the last three years. I sent this zine to Fecal Face, and didn't hear anything from them for months. In late January I received a request for the zine. I was very curious how this person had found out about the zine (I'm based in Berlin at the moment and my only real press for the zine was done on facebook). I was informed that Fecal Face had blogged about the zine! That just goes to show you that things sometimes take time. I'm so honored because they not only blogged about my work, but they did a feature on the zine. Here is the link to their post: http://www.fecalface.com/SF/good-stuff/5123-cut-it-out-by-lavender-wolf
Again, I am very honored. About two weeks later my partner (I had a civil ceremony here in Berlin this past March!) told me that I had also been blogged about on Juxtapoz magazines blog! This was a great surprise. Here is the link to Juxtapoz's blog post about my work:

There are a few projects that I have on the back burner at the moment. I'm working on artist book that's a diary of sorts. I'm also writing a graphic novel that I plan to illustrate using papercuts. I will post snippets here and there. I'm definitely an artist who works in series. I prefer presenting work when projects are finished, but I feel like sharing, so new work will be coming soon.
In other news, I contacted one of my favorite models, Shaun Ross and sent him the papercut portaits that I made of him last summer. I hope he likes them. I'll keep you posted. Thank you for following my blog. I will have some new work for you all to preview next Friday.
love and gratitude,
Lavender

Another thing I wanted to tell you!
Dear Readers,
A few hours ago I mentioned that I would be submitting work to three of my favorite illustration blogs. I can't resist sharing with you the portfolio of images that I sent off today. Please take a look.

Extra Extra!
Dear Readers,
I've been away from my blog for awhile, but I've been working day and night. What have I been up to? Many of you know that I also Dj and in addition to that I was preparing new work for an installation that was shown just this past Thursday at Schlesische 19, a project space owned by Barbie Dienhoff's. With no shortage of ideas and projects (I have journals full of ideas for pieces that I'd like to make) I use every chance to exhibit as a platform for displaying new work. The exhibition was titled "Shapeshifter". I will preview some of the images shown in the installation in the next few days, and will provide more information about the show too.
Readers, I am living my goals. I like the way that sounds better than living my dreams because not all of my dreams are goals. People have been so supportive of the work that I create with papercuts but the momentum and the interest continues to eb and flow. The actual papercuts that I make are selling and I have recently ventured into producing prints. Today I'll be setting up an Etsy shop. My goals for the week include sorting out my tumblr account, creating a Saatchi online profile, and submitting work to three of my favorite illustration blogs: Fecal Face, Illustrationmundo, and Drawn.
This post will highlight some of the things that I've been working on since my last my post. You can expect another post very soon, probably Friday, as I have a few commissions to work on and... I'm taking the day off on Thursday to watch Cloud Atlas and to spend some time with my best friend Richard who helps me out with Graphic Design issues. I wish you all a great week.
yours,
Lavender
p.s. I was also interviewed and featured on Kaltblut online. I will share the link with you and attach it to this post!Lavender Wolf featured in Kaltblut
"Spock", 2012. This piece was commissioned by new boon companion, Luci Fiction, for her brother's birthday. He usually receives a bottle of Vodka. In my opinion this handmade piece was a great way to mix it up this year. Her brother appears below the piece. Another satisfied recipient of a Lavender Wolf piece!
"Hermes", 2012. Hermes might look familiar to a few of you, especially those of you who purchased CUT IT OUT! "Hermes" was part of the series "Shapeshifter". He didn't make it to the installation but was featured on a poster for one of my Dj sets at Golden Finish in Berlin.
I've been very, very lucky to forge a growing Dj career for myself. I describe myself more as an artist with excellent taste in music. My slogan states that I will "Indie Rock you til you Electropop". This begins with the posters that I design and crescendos during my gigs. Here are two posters where I experimented with traditional collage techniques (no digital compostions for old school me) used to promote recent Dj gigs.
This is the poster that was used to promote my installation "Shapeshifter", which was presented just this past Thursday at Schlesiche 19. Again, more info on this to come. I'll write a proper entry dedicated to this piece, but for now I'd like to share the poster.
It took me a long time to realize what I wanted to do. Maybe that's not the whole truth. It took me sometime to commit to something that I discovered I really enjoyed doing. It has been my goal to support myself using my skills and talents and I am doing it dear readers. These are just two pieces that I sold since my last blog post!

News/Interview
Why haven't I posted anything for the last few weeks? It's been a very busy, very exciting time. In addition to creating new material for an upcoming installation, I've also been work on private commissions and Dj-ying a lot!
Along with all of my other projects, I had my first private commission. The commission was for a dear friend and patron of mine who wanted to give her girlfriend a one of a kind piece. It was such a romantic gesture, I couldn't say no. I made the piece so quickly that I didn't even have time to take it to be scanned. I will, however, post it here in the next two days.
I've also been experimenting with mock ups, and more traditional forms of collage. Papercutting will always be my first love, but it's great to mix it up.
I'm very honored and very happy to be featured in an online interview for Kalt Blut magazine. The interview was conducted by my friend Nicolas Simoneau, a very talented graphic designer. It's very candid, and I am so impressed with how he used my images in the interview. Please read, and enjoy. I will be posting new material soon. Thank you for stopping by.

Parts of the process
Earlier this summer I began making mock-ups for paper cuts that
I'd like to create. The idea was that the mock-ups would speed up
my process, enabling me to work faster on new material. Here are
a few that I'd like to share with you from A3 sketchbook. These
images are for my upcoming show titled "Shapeshifter". x LW
